eCommerce start-up "We Are Knitters" gain funding

It's fascinating to see how arts and crafts are gaining popularity, and "We Are Knitters" are riding this wave, having just won a funding round of 150,000 euros.

As their name suggests they specialise in selling kits and material for those who like to make their own clothing, and they are building an online 'knitters network' with knitting tutorial videos to help people get started.

The funding round of 150,000 includes investors such as SCR Cabiedes & Partners, François Derbaix and Yago Arbeloa. The start-up intends to use these funds to accelerate growth internationally, especially in the US and UK where they already achieve 20% of their sales. They already have sold to 4,000 customers in over 10 countries, so their international push is well underway.

The funders, María José Marín and Alberto Bravo, have created a welcoming site that is already available in 3 languages - English, German and Spanish - and look to have created a venture that can grow tremendously over the coming years. It can't hurt that knitting has become cool and chic, but "We Are Knitting" also aim to keep their reputation high, by insisting on natural wool from Uruguay.
