Red Karaoke rocks the world
One of the major world successes in the Spanish start-up scene in recent years has been Miguel Angel Díez with his venture Red Karaoke.
It's claimed to be the largest online karaoke search engine, and has built up millions of users internationally. It's not just a streaming karaoke service - it fully embraces the Web 2.0 ethos of involving its users in discussion forums, voting, ranking and searches. As you would expect with a start-up of this calibre, they are fully comitted to bringing their services to tablets, smart tvs and smartphones. They recently in June gained further investment of 600,000 Euros, a figure that takes the value of the company to 11 million, and the operation looks set to grow much bigger. The founders, Miguel and Richard Díez Ferreira made a decision in the early days to base the company in Silicon Valley, and this looks to have paid off handsomely. They have obtained distribution deals with the likes of Samsung, LG, Google TV, Panasonic and Microsoft, and continue to innovate and update their offerings - for instance this summer they introduced a kids karaoke app
