TheMadVideo - Video will never be the same
Spanish company TheMadVideo has had an excellent start to summer 2013 - earlier it was announced they'd gained $585,000 in funding, and it's now won an award as the hottest showcase at Tech Cocktail's Mixer Event, thanks to its easy tagging and promotion of favourite Youtube videos.
Over 250 international start-ups participated at the Startup Conference held in Silicon Valley. Just three were selected to make their pitch to the public voters, and TheMadVideo ended up with a winning prize.
The start-up provides a platform that gives users the ability to organise (and perhaps monetise) their content through tagging people, places or products that are featured in the video. In short its technology allows users to add information to audiovisual content. They already boast clients in Spain of the calibre of El Corte Ingles, AXN and the Prado Museum.
The company, co-founded by Koldo Garcia and Iñaki Arredondo, moved its main base of operations to Silicon Valley in order to maximise its international appeal. This move paid off with the successful funding round from various investors and Business Angels, including Antonio Fontanini, Bernardo Hernández and VitaminaK. The start-up will continue to provide its users with its tag technology, but will now expand the use of its product on smart TVs, through the development of a new mobile application.
