Ticketea gains $4million funding deal.
In the last couple of weeks there have been several funding deals for Madrid start-ups - a couple of them being "We Are Knitters" and Etece (article to follow).
One of these funding deals has been for Ticketea, the leading social ticketing platform in Spain, that has raised $4 million in a Series B round of funding. The investment has been led by the Spanish VC Seaya Ventures, and the money raised will be used in developing its m-commerce range, as well as on international expansion.
Ticketea offers a service that enables small and medium size event organisers not only to sell tickets but also to market and promote the event. The company uses social distribution channels that allow event organisers to set up events on a domain or sub-domain - the sites also allows them to include their own branding or layout. It's this social co-operation in ticketing that has allowed the company to grow (150% in 2012) despite having strong competition from the likes of Ticketmaster and Eventbrite.
Congratulations to ceo Javier Andrés and the rest of the team at Ticketea!
