ArtTroop – art marketplace, gains funding

ArtTroop is a web marketplace for artworks, founded in October 2011 by Aitziber Irisarri and Raquel Bernal. The aim was to democratize the buying and selling of art, and within a few months the idea has gained traction - with 400 vendors and more than a thousand exhibits, it currently showcases the work of artists from Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Poland and Venezuela. It’s an international platform which is an opportunity for new artists who have no access to a gallery but also to existing vendors who want to reach more people.

Given such a promising start from the Valencia start-up, it’s no wonder that they’ve quickly found investors to help with their international plans. In July funding of 320,000 Euros was announced from Business Booster Seed Capital, Caixa Capital Risc, the Valencian Institute of Finance (IVF) and private investors.
