Not just Sand, Sea and Sangria
Bertelsmann group, via its investment fund BDMI, has announced it is investing directly in the Spanish start-up Whisbi. It brings the total of capital raised by the Madrid based start-up to $2.5 million.
Whisbi uses communications technology and video agents to help companies increase their internet sales, in some cases it is claimed by as much as 300%
The patented videoconferencing toolset provided by Whisbi, enable interactive sessions (whether it be voice, video or chat features) that require no additional hardware, plug-in or download.
The funding is to be used for international expansion - Whisbi has already enabled companies such as Movistar, Vodafone and Citibank to increase their online sales in Spain.
After looking at the demo video I have to say I'm impressed with their features, and if they can improve online sales in recession-hit Spain, I'm sure their videoconferencing toolset can do the same in other countries.
